5 Must-Haves for Your First Rural Harvest Party

rural harvest party

If you’re ready to move to the country and enjoy some wide-open spaces, then you probably have a hankering for a big autumn party. It’s not too late to buy land (with a low down payment and zero closing costs, you could be the proud owner today!), and it’s definitely not too late to start planning your party. What should your guests expect?

Hayride

You’ll need a tractor and trailer for your new land anyway, so go ahead and invest in a tractor and trailer. Fill the trailer with bales of hay and some blankets for these crisp fall evenings. After the sun goes down and the ghost stories have been told, go for a haunted hayride through the trees. Everyone will love it, regardless of their age!

Bonfire

Be sure to observe bonfire safety rules before you get started. You’ll need a space located away from buildings and vehicles in case things get out of hand. Also, it’s not a bad idea to have a water hose turned on and resting nearby for emergencies. If you don’t have a hose, a big bucket already filled will do the trick. Then gather around, roast some marshmallows, and tell ghost stories.

S’Mores

What’s an autumn party without s’mores? You can go with the classic Hershey’s bar, marshmallow, and graham, or mix things up for a gourmet effect. Switch the chocolate bar for a Reese’s cup or a cookies ‘n’ cream bar. Choose chocolate marshmallows or even mint for a burst of extra flavor. For a truly rich experience, use shortbread cookies in place of the graham crackers. Your guests will never stop talking about your party.

Pumpkins

Carving pumpkins is a perfect activity for any age, but especially for the kids. With some parental guidance, get those pumpkins cut open and cleaned out. Then pass around some cookie cutters for the kids to press into the outer skin. This gives the adults a guide for the sharp instruments. What you get are easy patterns with bats, ghosts, and any other ghoulish cookie cutters you can find. Of course, you can also trace your own designs if you’re up for a bit more work.

Pumpkin Seeds

Pass around a tray of delicious pumpkin seeds after you’re finished carving your pumpkins. We shared several delicious recipes to really spice up this popular autumn treat. You can also bake them into breads for a heartier treat or mix them with your favorite dried fruits and some granola for a healthy snack.

Now you’re ready for your first autumn harvest party on your brand new rural land! Of course, to get started, you’ll need to buy that land, so check out the farms available in Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina. Then come talk to us about how easy buying your favorite farm can be.
