3 Iced Tea Recipes You Need to Get Through Summer

iced tea recipes

What is summer in the south without a glass of iced tea? If you’re tired of the same old thing, you may want to try one of these recipes. You’ll be refreshed in no time!

Sweet Lime Iced Tea

Lemon and tea just seem to go together, but sometimes you may want to shake things up a little. This recipe, which calls for lime instead of the usual lemon, may be the perfect solution to your need for change. For this, you’ll need:

  • 1 gallon boiling water
  • 6 black tea bags
  • 1½ cups of white sugar
  • 4 squeezed limes

Steep tea bags in boiling water for 45 minutes, and then remove the bags. Next, stir in the sugar and lime juice. You can pour the tea into a glass jar or pitcher only after it’s cooled to room temperature. Before serving, make sure it’s fully refrigerated and poured over ice.

Hawaiian Plantation Iced Tea

For a taste of the islands right in your own backyard, this tea should hit the spot. The tangy pineapple helps make this the perfect refreshment. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 quart boiling water
  • 4 orange pekoe tea bags
  • 1 quart of ice cold water
  • 1 16 oz can of pineapple juice
  • ½ cup of simple syrup
  • fresh pineapple for garnish

When the water is barely boiling, pour it into a pitcher and add the tea bags. Allow the bags to steep for 4 minutes, and then remove the bags. Next, add the ice water and pineapple juice. You can use the simple syrup to sweeten to your taste. When you’re ready to drink, pour the tea over ice and add your fresh pineapple.

Sun Tea

Sun tea is a must for hot, sunny days in the south. The beauty of this recipe is that you don’t need to add to the heat by using your stove for boiling water. How, you ask? Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 10 tea bags
  • 8 cups of water
  • Clear pitcher or jar (make sure it holds at least 10 cups)
  • Simple syrup

Place the tea bags into the water and then set the pitcher in a sunny area for about an hour. If you prefer stronger tea, let those bags steep just a little longer. Then, pour over ice, add simple syrup to get it as sweet as you like, and then enjoy.

You can add fruit to the mix at any time for a bit of a kick (and for a natural sweetener). Try smashing them in the bottom of a glass before adding the ice and tea for a real treat.

Now you’re ready to beat the summer heat with delicious iced tea. If you have any other recipes, we’d love to see them. Share them over on our Facebook page!
